Reliable access to clean energy? It’s holding the world back. Renewables are helping but they’re held back too – by distribution networks that take too much time, land and money to build while our population and climate challenges increase.

We need a game changer. We need wireless energy. And that’s what we’re working on, beginning with light beam technology that charges drones in the air, scaling up and out all the way to create a global energy network with no wires and no limits.

Meet some of the Aquila team

We’re a team of highly skilled scientists and engineers with heart, focus and big ambitions. Because that’s what big problems need.

Currently, we’re based in Australia and New Zealand, as we begin scaling our technology to solve clean energy access, globally. Our core team includes doctors of photonics, photovoltaics and control systems; experience at Rocket Lab and EOS laser telescopes; and recipients of more than a few tech awards, including a robotics champion.

Billy has built a graph platform for the physical world, assembled an engine for fibre-optic networks, and created a profit-generating algorithm on an industrial battery. In other words, he’s a mathematician with a strong entrepreneurial focus.

After training in mechatronics engineering, Nelson launched automation, test rigs and navigation systems for Rocket Lab. He’s skilled in photonic structural colour material design, and has been an Antarctic space mapping champion.
